2012 HR Department of the Year Awards

On April 19th a group of prospective nominees were intrigued as a panel of previous winners and lead Judge Mark Spool described the value of winning The Delaware Valley HR Department of the Year Award. HR leaders from PGW, NFI Industries and Ricoh described the positive experience from the Department of the Year application and judging process. As nominations and applications kick off for the 2012 HR Department of the Year, progressive HR leaders will be pleased to hear what the panel listed as the major benefits of applying for the prestigious award.

What was heard?
  • The Department of the Year application process is a great team building exercise
  • The process is a great way to "engage" your entire HR team
  • A chance to brag about the value HR has brought to the business
  • Identify HR initiatives that had positive effects on the business
  • Every applicant gained CEO support/respect for HR as a strategic partner in the business.
  • A look back at where HR has come from (part of the process) helps to plan for going forward
  • It is important to get your team involved in the process as early as possible
The BIGGEST takeaway…

All the panelists agreed that the application process was well worth the effort. Winning the award, which was coveted, was over shadowed by the team building aspect of the application process that reinforced the direction of their HR department strategy.
