The National Board of Medical Examiners

The National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) is a private, non-profit organization of 300 highly educated, generally long service employees who are dedicated to exellence in the development of tools for the assessment of medical professionals. Their major product (about 75% of revenues) is the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE). They also provide evaluation services for medical schools (subject exams, etc), and certifying exams for health professionals (even the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam).
