DONATIONS WILL BENEFIT PHILABUNDANCE

The Delaware Valley HR Department of the Year Awards Program not only would like to recognize the outstanding contributions HR individuals are providing to their organizations, but, we would also like to recognize the ongoing effort in the Delaware Valley to ensure every person does not go to bed hungry.

This year we have partnered with Philabundance, an organization founded in 1984 that works to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by rescuing surplus food and distributing it to local organizations serving people in need.

Have you ever attended a company meeting where food was served?  When the meeting was done, did you ever look to see the amount of food leftover?  Approximately 27% of the food produced in the U.S. goes to waste each year while millions of people go hungry. Philabundance works to change this contradiction. Last year, Philabundance provided approximately 22 million pounds of food to our member agencies.

How can you help?

All participants will receive recognition on the Department of the Year website and the Philabundance website as well as recognition at the Awards dinner on November 13, 2008, where we will announce the amount of donations, food and money collected to present to Philabundance that evening.

  • When you make your reservations to attend the awards program on Thursday, November 13th, there will be an option to make a monetary contribution which will go directly to Philabundance.
  • When you attend the awards program, we invite you to bring one or more nonperishable item in exchange for a ticket to win a great prize! Philabundance will be presented with all the donations during the dinner and awards presentation.
  • Organize a contest at your office or through your local organizations to fill a jar (provided to you) with quarters. Those participants who are able to fill the jar prior to November 1, 2008, will receive a complimentary ticket to the event. It only takes Philabundance $.25 to feed one person in addition to all the nonperishable donations received.

If you are interested in participating in any of the support avenues above, please contact our Event Manager, Connie Pearson-Bernard at 484-461-1067 or connie@seamlesseventsinc.com. Connie is working closely with the Director of Strategic Planning at Philabundance to coordinate these partnerships.
